Ellen DeGeneres Said The Sweetest Thing In Her Teen Choice Awards Speech

As if we needed another reason to adore Ellen: She just said the sweetest, most spot-on thing during her Teen Choice Awards acceptance speech. DeGeneres — who took the prize for best comedian — climbed onto the stage looking comfy yet chic, but not before giving wife Portia de Rossi a quick smooch. "I want to say I'm pro-teen choice," she told the crowd, garnering applause. "I also want to say that it is good to be chosen." Then, the longtime host of her eponymous talk show got real. "There was a time in my life where I wasn't chosen," she added, noting how bad it feels to be left out. DeGeneres went on to say twice during her short time onstage that uniqueness is what matters in the long run. "What makes you different now will make you special later in life," she explained. DeGeneres then took the time to give a shout-out to de Rossi — mentioning that the couple are celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary today. Of course, it's not surprising that Ellen used her speech to encourage kids who feel unusual or isolated to let their unique flags fly. Earlier this summer, she very publicly reached out to a little boy who was afraid that people wouldn't like him because he's gay. "Not only will people like you, they’ll love you," DeGeneres wrote to him via Facebook. "I just heard of you, and I love you already.” News flash: We love you, Ellen — because how could we not?
