Raven-Symoné Thinks Caitlyn Jenner Is Moving “Too Fast”

Raven-Symoné expressed a controversial opinion on The View yesterday. In other news, the sun rose and set, and your insufferable cubicle-mate made a "case of the Mondays" joke. The panel was speaking about Caityln Jenner's gender transition, and her new role as an advocate of sorts for the transgender community. Something about Jenner's sudden rise to trans icon didn't sit right with Symoné, however. The former child star waffled between praising Jenner for her outreach while also criticizing her for revving up too quickly. "I think it’s wonderful, and yes, it needs a light being shined on it," the onetime Disney star said. "When I came out, I didn’t go and go hardcore and be like, ‘I’m going to save the world for LGBT...' You’ve got to learn it. You’ve got to learn it first, and she’s not, really." "I think you can be strategic before you come out as well," she added. "Before [I came out], I was definitely repping the community, even when I wasn’t saying this is what I was. And I’m not faulting [Caitlyn], because yes, we need [her]. It’s too fast, too soon." Is it just us, or does it seem like Symoné would have some sort of bone to pick with Jenner regardless of how the transgender star adjusted to her new life? Perhaps the co-host is saying that it's too soon to place Jenner above established trans advocates like Janet Mock or even Laverne Cox, which is a fair point. Still, everyone's experience and level of influeunce is different, and if Jenner is doing some good for the community, is it really worth splitting hairs?
