The New Steve Jobs Trailer Has Finally Arrived

The road to the silver screen has been a long and harrowing one for Steve Jobs the movie. It's been nearly four years since the tech icon passed away from pancreatic cancer, and rumors about the film have pretty much been swirling ever since. But it wasn't until the Sony hacks that the general public got an inside look at the internal politicking that kept the movie from making its way to theaters. In the fall of 2014, a nasty trove of emails surfaced between Amy Pascal, the then-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Group, and Scott Rudin, whose company was set to produce the film. Pascal and Rudin did an astounding amount of trash talking in these messages, mostly because Angelina Jolie was apparently insisting that the director Sony had in mind for Steve Jobs — David Fincher — should be working on Cleopatra, another Sony film in its nascent stages that also happened to be the actress' passion project. Many expletives were bandied about. In one message, Rudin called Angelina a "minimally talented spoiled brat." Communications continued to break down between Pascal and Rudin. Leonardo DiCaprio was tapped for, and then passed on, the title role. Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale were also considered, though it's not clear if either of them were ever actually in the running. All was woe. Until... Universal Studios wound up adopting the project, with Rudin still attached. Danny Boyle replaced David Fincher at the helm. Michael Fassbender landed the title role. Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels arrived on board. And, from the looks of the below new trailer for the film, which is set to arrive in theaters on October 9, 2015, it might have all been worth the wait.
