Here’s Where Brides Magazine Stands On Marriage Equality

As the world awaits the U.S. Supreme Court decision regarding same-sex marriage, which could give couples the right to wed in all 50 states, Brides magazine has produced a video that makes clear where the publication stands on the issue. (Hint: Brides supports marriage equality.) Although the magazine is best known for offering wedding-planning tips and inspiration rather than political opinions, executive editor Lauren Iannotti says that when it came to the issue of marriage equality, the Condé Nast-owned title felt compelled to speak up. "It was a no-brainer for us," Iannotti told us in an email. "It’s not often that a major Supreme Court decision overlaps with what we do, and we wanted to fully throw our support behind marriage equality. To our minds, everyone has the right to a big, fun, beautiful, wedding — fully recognized by the state." Using a series of clips and emotional voiceovers, the video, entitled "Love Is Love," is a poignant snapshot of how the freedom to marry (in 37 states, as it currently stands) has influenced the lives of same-sex couples across the country. It ends with a clear message displayed on the screen: "Everyone deserves the right to get married," along with the hashtag #WeddingsForEveryone. Watch the entire video below — and be prepared for tearful toasts, extreme tugging of heartstrings, and Lance Bass. (Brides)
