It’s Kanye’s Turn To #BreakTheInternet In Paper Magazine

It feels like just yesterday that Kim Kardashian tried to #BreaktheInternet with her nude Paper magazine spread. Now, it's her husband Kanye West's turn as a cover star, although his accompanying article is actually an essay penned by Yeezy himself. He also remains fully clothed in every photo. Whether that's a good decision or not, we'll leave up to you. What we're here to discuss at present are the "That's so Yeezy" highlights from Kanye's essay about the American dream. Here are just a few quotient quotables from "Kanye West: In His Own Words," which appears in the April issue of Paper. There's some name-dropping: "I think it's so important for me, as an artist, to give Drake as much information as I can, A$AP, Kendrick, Taylor Swift, any of these younger artists as much information as I can to make better music in the future." Along with some #deepthoughts about fashion: "I believe that everyone is a fashion insider, because it's illegal to be naked." (Although the Free the Nipple campaign is trying to change that last part.) He wants to let his inner child shine: "My goal is to paint. My goal is to be as close to a five-year-old, or a four-year-old, or a three-year-old, as possible." He makes the GAOAT (Greatest Analogy of All Time): "Right now, over 70% of my focus is on apparel. I haven't even given my College Dropout of clothing yet. We're still on mixtapes." Lest we forget, he's an innovator: "Graduation was an innovation. 808s & Heartbreak was an innovation. The song 'Niggas in Paris' was an innovation. 'Only One' was an innovation. 'FourFiveSeconds' was an innovation. I care about innovating...That's my job." Stop saying he's part of the Illuminati: "If there was actually an Illuminati, it would be more like the energy companies. Not celebrities that gave their life to music and who are pinpointed as decoys for people who really run the world. I'm tired of people pinpointing musicians as the Illuminati. That's ridiculous. We don't run anything; we're celebrities." He knows the way forward: "We're all from one family called the human race. It's simple as that. This race is up against some interesting things — poverty, war, global warming, classism — and we have to come together to beat this. It'll only be as a collective that we can beat this, and we can.
