It's quite an understatement to say that Lady Gaga had a big night yesterday. The pop star's medley of songs from The Sound of Music ranked as one of the Oscars' finest moments. Alas, her fiancé, Taylor Kinney, wasn't there to watch it in person.
"He has work in the morning," the newly engaged singer told Good Morning America of her absent beau. The Chicago Fire star, she explained, would be watching the show from home on TV like the rest of us. If ever there were a day to call in sick...
Though Kinney was MIA, he was there in spirit. During a red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight, Gaga revealed that the actor had first proposed to her with a blue raspberry Ring Pop.
"It was actually funny, he first gave me a Ring Pop — a candy Ring Pop — and I was crying so hard, and I said yes right away," she said. "Then, he pulled out the heart-shaped diamond and I said 'Oh, god!'"
Candy is sweet, but it's always good to have a backup.
