Chelsea Handler’s Latest Topless Photo Is A Plea For Peace In The Middle East (Seriously)

Chelsea Handler is back at her particular brand of Instagram activism. This time, she went topless in Israel for what Handler seems to believe is a positive way to foster relations between Jews and Muslims in the Middle East. The comedian is currently touring Israel, which she referred to as her homeland in this photo she shared three days ago. She also noted in the caption that her "jugs" were in her jacket as a sign of "#RESPECT." Turns out, it was just foreshadowing for what she planned to do later on in her trip. Yesterday, Handler posted another photo of herself topless astride a camel. Riding an animal while half-naked has become a recurring theme in her Instagram politicking. Remember when she made a point about censorship with a side-by-side comparison featuring Vladimir Putin?  Instagram pulled that photo down, so Handler came up with a clever way to work around it in her latest photo crusade. This time, the comedian stuck Isareli flag stickers over her nipples, thus obeying the photo sharing platform's terms of service. In the caption she wrote, "A Muslim allowed a topless Jew to sit on his camel. And we say we can't live side by side? I say we try and we can and we will. And, You don't even have to be topless. L'chaim." Now, most religious Jews and Muslims adhere to much more modest dress codes, so this olive branch between Handler and a Muslim camel owner likely wont be the international and religious peace statement she believes. People who will follow Handler on Instagram are used to her shock value comedy by now, though. And, as she says, you don't have to be topless to bridge cross-cultural divides. Baby steps, we guess.
