Anne Hathaway Says New Oscar Host Should “Do The Opposite Of What I Did”

If you need advice on winning an Oscar, Anne Hathaway's your gal. If it's tips on hosting the Oscars you're seeking, well, maybe try to get Billy Crystal or Ellen DeGeneres on the horn before giving her a call.
We're not being harsh. Even Hathaway think her 2011 hosting gig opposite a seemingly stoned James Franco was a bust. Perhaps that's why her advice to this year's host, actor Neil Patrick Harris, is fairly simple and straightforward: "Do the opposite of what I did, and you’ll be fine."
When asked by the New York Times Magazine what exactly went wrong on her big night, Hathway declined to point fingers, but we can all read between those lines. "I think it’s so obvious that it doesn’t even need to be identified," she said. Cough, Franco, cough.

The actress seemed more optimistic about Harris' chances of entertaining the masses. "He’ll be great," she graciously gushed. "He’s a natural host."
Still, we imagine the ghost of Franco will linger. Should we go ahead and make up a drinking game for the number of Interview jokes in the monologue?
