Chris Pratt can do no wrong. Hollywood's resident class clown showed a decidedly different side of himself when he opened up about his son Jack's premature birth, at Friday's March of Dimes Celebration of Babies in Los Angeles.
Jack Pratt was born nine weeks early, and weighed only 3 pounds, 12 ounces. "That's a decent-sized bass," Pratt quipped. "Very small for a human." And, though he peppered his speech with his trademark humor, Pratt also revealed a rarely seen emotional side.
"I've done all kinds of cool things as an actor: I've jumped out of helicopters and done some daring stunts and played baseball in a professional stadium — but none of it means anything compared to being somebody's daddy," Pratt told the star-studded audience.

He recalled the doctor telling he and wife Anna Faris that their son may have special needs and require corrective eye surgery. "I made promises in that moment about what kind of dad I wanted to be, and I just prayed that he'd live long enough that I could keep them."
Thankfully, his prayers were answered.
"Our Jack went from a small, helpless little squirt to a strong, smart, happy, funny, beautiful boy who loves monster trucks and Daniel Tiger, and, believe it or not, loves vegetables," Pratt said.
He also praised the work of the March of Dimes, the advocacy group whose research helped save Jack's life. According to Pratt, life in the NICU is a balancing act, one that is "tipping toward life by cutting-edge medicines, much of which is a direct result of this wonderful organization, the March of Dimes."
