A Couples’ Vibrator Like You’ve Never Seen Before

When we're considering couples' sex toys, two options spring readily to mind: There is, of course, the famous We-Vibe, that U-shaped darling of toys for two, worn with one arm inserted into the vagina alongside the penis and the other arm buzzing away against the clit. Then, there's the cock ring, a dependable (and cheap) option for providing the clitoral stimulation that hetero sex too often lacks.
Although, according to Alexandra Fine, CEO of Dame Products, these toys are both missing a certain something. "I always wanted a hands-free toy that I could wear with my partner," she shares. "Really small, and as thin as possible, so that we hardly noticed it — but that gave me that clitoral stimulation." Because no available options fit that bill, Fine set out to create her own. That's how Eva — Dame Products' first sex toy — was born.

Fine, who holds a Master’s of Clinical Psychology from Columbia University, started Dame Products alongside Janet Lieberman, an MIT-trained mechanical engineer. What Fine and Lieberman share is a passion for women's pleasure — and for improving how women experience sex. Fine hearkens back to a 2010 survey in which 14.5% of women participants reported that their latest sexual experience was "not at all pleasurable" or only "a little" pleasurable. Compare this with the 4.3% of men who reported the same, and it's clear we have a gendered "pleasure gap." But, the devices intended to bridge that gap can be clunky and/or awkward. "The We-Vibe," for example, "anchors inside the vagina and then you wear it along with the penis," Fine explains. "A lot of women really like it…but, for me and for a lot of other people about there, it’s a lot in there; it’s a huge piece of plastic that comes in between you and your partner in some of your most sensitive places. You can’t not be aware that it’s there."
Cock rings, meanwhile, must be worn by the man; not all men enjoy the sensation, and clitoral stimulation is dependent on contact with the man's groin. "Our solution is a very small vibrator — kind of like a bullet, but we’ve gotten it to be, we think, significantly stronger. We added these wings to it that tuck underneath the labia majora and then they expand in that space," says Fine. The goal of Eva is to keep sex as natural as possible while also showing your clit a little love (or a lot — there are three intensity settings).
Initial response among testers has been enthusiastic (view the testimonial video above). "We are trying to make the world a happier place, one vagina at a time," says Fine. To support them in their mission (and snag an Eva of your own), click through to the Indiegogo campaign for Eva's creation.
