Ariana Grande is the subject of some fairly harsh criticism these days. Reports of her difficult ways have earned negative feedback from the press, her life coach, and other women in show biz. When nearly every news item about the singer targets her reported diva-gone-wild ways, Jessie J stepped in to shut them down.
The "Bang Bang" singer, who collaborated with Grande on the hit single, says Grande is simply a woman who "knows what she wants." In an interview with Us Weekly, Jessie J used her personal experience with the singer to validate her claims. "I always say judge a person when you meet them," she told the magazine. "I've met Ariana, and there's a very thin line between 'diva' and 'survival.' And a lot of people can't [differentiate that] — and I've had that."
It's old news that women who're assertive in the workplace can sometimes earn an unfair reputation as being "bossy." So, is it possible that Grande's just workin' it behind the scenes like a #girlboss? "I've had the diva stuff. And it's when people can't cope with how passionate you are, and how much you care," says Jessie J. She concluded the Us Weekly interview with some final words of support and encouragement for the young singer. "She's super talented, she's very young, and she's very sure of what she wants. I think she's wonderful. She's great." Now that the venerable Jessie J's vouched for her, who will dare to contradict? (Us Weekly)
