The BBC is launching a new music venture and exactly what said project is remains shrouded in mystery. Just look at their choice in bringing together nearly 30 of today's biggest musicians — and pairing them with an 80-piece band — for one of this year's most pleasantly wacky music videos.
If ever you've wanted to hear One Direction, Pharrell, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Kylie Minogue collab on a Beach Boys track, now's your chance. They — and literally every artist under the Billboard sun — cover "God Only Knows." Lorde blesses the track with a verse and some cool wings while Sam Smith croons near a window as Sam Smith does. Jamie Cullum makes an appearance. So does Dave Ghrol. But, more importantly, Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine sings a line. And, it's been years since she's done anything new. Here's to hoping this new BBC music venture puts some fresh oil into that machine. (BBC)
