Joan Rivers wanted her funeral to be a spectacle. And, from the look of it so far, she got her wish.
Details and a guest list of the late comedian's memorial service were kept quiet prior to the event. But, this morning, celebrities including Howard Stern, Sarah Jessica Parker, Carolina Herrera, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Kelly Osbourne, Andy Cohen, Donald Trump, Diane Sawyer, and Kyle MacLachlan were among those gathering at Manhattan's Temple Emanu-El.
Rivers, who died Thursday at age 81, made it known that she wanted her funeral to be overwhelmed by paparazzi and celebs. Though the service itself was private, the affair was mired in hoopla. Outside, onlookers reportedly booed when trucks blocked their view of the proceedings. Meanwhile, fans mourned the comic great in a more respectful manner.
There's no word yet whether Rivers was presented in Valentino with a wind machine on standby, but there's no doubt the funeral was a "showbiz affair." Joan wouldn't have wanted it any other way. (The Hollywood Reporter)
