Us Weekly brings us the news courtesy of an anonymous source (our favorite type of tabloid-game-of-telephone chain).
According to Us (via that source), Paltrow has "no objections" to the "budding romance" between her sort-of-ex-husband and the three-time Oscar nominee. "Her take is, 'Hey, he could do worse,'" the "pal of Paltrow's" says. "She just wants him to be happy."
"He could do worse" is kind of passive-aggressive, no? It's not fully committing to approval or disdain. Then again, Paltrow and Martin are still in the process of consciously uncoupling, so his conscious coupling with a young starlet may have blindsided Gwyneth a bit.
Still, let us not forget that she did tag Chris Martin in her Ice Bucket Challenge video, so perhaps her reported statement was not meant with any malice. Oh, the tangled web you weave, Hollywood romances and charity challenges. We are now forced to start the weekend in a state of bewilderment, and we're way less fun when we're bewildered. (Us)
