Could This Change The Way You Shop For Good?

We know it firsthand as fashion editors: Shopping on the web is overly complicated. On any typical day, we jump around to 50-plus e-comms, from mega sites like Net-A-Porter and Shopbop to indie retailers, to score the best deals and source the coolest products from around the globe. But, what if there was a single app that brought the best of the designer landscape to your phone, so you could instantly shop on the go or even just from bed when you’re too lazy to grab your laptop (guilty...) or wallet? Enter Spring.
Launched yesterday in Apple’s App Store, the New York-based start-up, which counts LVMH as investors and the CFDA as early support, hopes to become your one-stop shop for scoring your favorite designer goods, like Prabal Gurung or Pierre Hardy, anywhere you find downtime. Scroll through the Instagram-style feed of over 100 emerging and established brands (just as you would @manrepeller's or @jxxsy's latest #OOTD), tapping your favorite items to instantly click-to-buy a label's latest wares. Here, splurging is incredibly simple: Your credit-card information is stored so you can truly “spring” for that cute bag.

Totally novel? Maybe not. You're already able to go straight to the source and shop on your favorite store's mobile site. Or, if you're like us, you have a plethora of shopping apps, from Wanelo and Keep to ASAP54 and Shop It to Me, on your phone to keep your wardrobe wish list updated, too. But, what separates this app from the rest? The exclusives. For launch, Spring partnered with a handful of rad brands, like Opening Ceremony, Giles & Brothers, and Claire V., to offer only-available-in-app items that make the product a worthy download for any true shopping aficionado.
Our verdict: Spring offers an aesthetically pleasing way to keep up with the latest products your favorite labels have to offer in one portable and pretty place. The swipe-to-buy functionality is intuitive, but, in truth, the instant-buy action could make for an awkward pocket-purchasing situation if you're not careful. Plus, just like on Instagram, all the brand products are featured stream-of-consciousness-style, so there is currently no way to sort items by important factors like price or category. The bottom line? If limited-edition products are your thing, this app is the way to go.
So, what do you think? Would you buy clothes straight from your phone app? Do you need to do a little more online — and in-store — research before tapping Buy Now? Or, is there already an app you use that solves your addiction to refreshing your wardrobe? Tell us in the comments section below.
