You know those rare spaces where you walk in and find yourself wondering if you've actually passed through the pearly gates? That's how it feels when you enter the Club Monaco global flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. The retail haven got a major makeover last fall courtesy of its in-house design team — and we can all agree it cleans up real nice.
The inspiration for the interiors draws from the golden age of New York’s Flatiron District. Original architectural elements like the tin ceiling, columns, and plaster molding have been elegantly restored. Plus, the entire store is filled with patina'd vintage pieces, curvy seating, and Art Deco accessories. All very lovely and perfectly matched to the clothing that hangs in the old display cases.
And, try as you might to get "accidentally" locked into a dressing room for some after-hours lounging under a Sputnik-y pendant lamp, you will be promptly asked to leave at closing time. Bummer. But, perhaps this good news will cheer you: The Club Monaco Tastemaker Tag Sale is about to go down on One Kings Lane tomorrow (Wednesday, May 21 at 11 a.m.), and luxe-lady things like those mentioned above are yours for the taking.
