According to Geek.com, Google is in the process of testing a new webmail interface that completely redesigns the familiar left sidebar of links. The tabs that Google integrated last year now appear in that space — which allegedly hides and reappears as needed — where they are broken down by topic under the umbrella heading "Grouped in the Inbox." It's not yet clear if these are customizable or pre-set by Google. The "Hangouts" menu is also gone. PC Mag notes that the small, thought-bubble icon on the lower left likely brings up the Hangouts interface.
The "Compose" and "Remind me to..." buttons are tucked on the lower right of the screen, also popping up as needed. Geek.com reports that Gmail's starring system will be replaced by a "pinning" feature that allows users to place important emails at the top of their inbox. None of this has been confirmed by Google, nor is there any expectation that the tech behemoth will actually implement all of these features in future rollouts, though it's possible that we'll eventually get some variation of them. In the meantime, you can dream of an even more organized inbox. Or, you know, a vacation in Ko Samui or something. (Geek.com)
