Tom Ford Knocks Off Jay Z, Hova Probably Won’t Mind

When Jay Z rapped "I don't pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford" in his track named for the fashion icon, it was a moment of classic Hova shade. While younger rappers, like 2 Chainz and Juicy J, may get lots of press for their love of Molly, a designer drug that's an extremely pure form of MDMA, Hov asserts his love of designer clothing, instead. Basically, he's both too old, and too classy, for the club drug du jour.
Never one to let a good "get off my lawn" line (or merchandising opportunity) go to waste, Jay also turned the lyric into these $100 tour T-shirts, emblazoned with Tom Ford's name, 61 (the year Ford was born), and the word "Molly" crossed out. Very cute, Mr. Carter.

Now, Tom Ford has returned the volley with what he calls a "knock off of the knock off." He sent two sequined dresses down the runway in London yesterday, featuring the same Tom Ford, 61, and Molly motif — and, at this point, we're having a hard time figuring out who's ripping off whom. No word yet on Jay's reaction, but something tells us he'll be pleased with the reference — and that "his" dress stole the show from Ford's otherwise-subdued designs. When is Mr. Beyoncé's next album coming out? We feel a "Tom Ford, Pt. 2" coming on...
