Truth: Cutting your hair requires bravery. And, no, we're not just talking about a trim here. We mean inches that define an entirely new you. But, even the most confident of gals need a little moral support when it comes to lopping off their locks. Case in point: Taylor Swift hosted a "haircut party" in London this week, where pals like Ellie Goulding and Cara Delevingne watched as Swift chopped her locks to a chic shoulder-length bob.
Sure, this may sound like a self-absorbed publicity stunt, but George the Salon in Chicago claims it is already receiving calls from gals requesting their own haircut party. "You turn to your friends for important decisions, and a big style change is no different," says owner George Gonzalez. "A haircut party can calm your nerves and give you that extra boost of confidence to make a big change. Since hair has such a special meaning to many of us, it is a fun way to bond and bring you even closer as a group." Word, Gonzalez.
Women have been bonding via BYOB nail salons and blowout bars for years now, so this new wave of beautifying seems somewhat logical — even if cuts have more permanency than a polish change and flat-ironed tresses. So, if you're thinking about hosting your own follicle fete, gather the girls, pop a little bubbly, and start snapping those pics. You never know who you'll inspire to take the plunge.
