Emma Thompson Photobombs Lupita Nyong’o At The SAG Awards (& It Is Brilliant)

Taking a page from the Jennifer Lawrence handbook of gleeful red-carpet sabotage, British actress Emma Thompson photobombed Lupita Nyong'o at the Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday. The results? As you might expect, pretty brilliant. Thompson, nominated for her role as Mary Poppins' creator P.L. Travers in Saving Mr. Banks, couldn't resist sneaking up on 12 Years A Slave's Nyong'o, who was perfectly composed on the red carpet, and pulling a crazy face much the way J. Lawr did to an unsuspecting Taylor Swift. Fortunately — like Swift — Nyong'o was a good sport, played along, and hugged Thompson. It turned out to be an auspicious start to a lucky evening. The hotly tipped Kenyan newcomer won the award for Best Supporting Actress. As for Thompson, she's been on a witty roll since the Golden Globes, when she casually sipped a martini onstage and tossed off her Louboutins. (Who could blame her? The Golden Globes seating layout was insanely impractical.) Apparently, Thompson learned her lesson: This time, she opted to don a pair of sandals, choosing comfort over vanity — still Louboutins, of course. (The Independent)
