Breaking: Jil Sander Leaves Jil Sander — For The Third Time

In news that will surely sadden fans of luxe, monochromatic basics everywhere, German designer Jil Sander is leaving her namesake brand, citing personal reasons, reports WWD. If this sounds familiar, it's because this is not the first time the maestro of minimalism has departed her label — in fact, it's the third time.
Sander first departed the house in 2000, following the sale of a majority stake in her company to Prada Group. She returned to the label in 2003 and then left shortly thereafter. Most recently, Sander took back the reigns at her eponymous label in February 2012, following the much-mourned departure of Raf Simons, now at Dior.
Sander's most recent collection for the label was spring '14, featuring strong-shouldered dresses and her signature exquisitely cut suiting separates. According to WWD, the fall '14 collection will be designed by the brand's in-house team, and at this time, speculation over who will replace Sander has yet to begin. We're gonna need a minute for this one, guys — excuse us while we weep into our exquisitely tailored pantsuits. (WWD)
