Yes, it appears that Phillip Lim will be the next designer to team up with Target on a mass collaboration, and knowing Lim's high standards and keen eye, it'll probably be a great one. However, our friends at Racked ask a really great question: With the death toll at the Rana Plaza building collapse now reaching 900 and new reports of a factory fire taking eight lives, when will Target finally address the issue of labor in fashion?
Racked reached out to Target and asked for their response, which was complete, sympathetic, and aware of the issues in Bangladesh, but it also mentioned that they hoped to meet local labor laws, which are famously lax. With all the focus on fast fashion and the complexity of the supply-chain in retail, now would be a great time for Target's next collaboration not to be with just Phillip Lim, but Bangladesh as well.
