It's not often that we feel sorry for Anna Wintour — actually, we don't ever recall feeling sorry for the woman. That was until we found out that the Vogue ed, who aggressively fundraised for Obama during the 2012 campaign, has reportedly been passed over for a diplomatic post in London. That's got to hurt, right?
With President Obama officially inaugurated into his second term, there comes a fresh crop of diplomatic appointments to dish out, and in the past few months it’s been rumoured that Wintour was hoping for a posting to either the U.K. or France.

Both gigs offer plenty of clout in addition to ridiculous residencies of palatial proportions. Apparently Anna favoured the London posting, and notified Mr Obama to tell him as much. We don't blame her, the U.S. Ambassador's official U.K. residence, Winfield House in Regent's Park, gives Buckingham Palace a run for its money.
But sadly, competition for posts is exceptionally crowded this time around, and with more than 300 hopefuls jostling for just 30 positions, meaning that La Wintour will not be rolling in Obama's ambassadorial crew. Instead, Matthew Barzun, a man who served as head of Obama's national fundraising committee, is tipped for the posting. And he's probably never even heard of Miuccia Prada.
President or not, we didn't think anyone had the guts to say no to Anna.
