Karlie Kloss Turned Into An Oscars-Ready Miss Havisham At Prabal Gurung

prabal-gurung-fall-2011-show-big
The minute Karlie Kloss stepped onto the runway to open Prabal Gurung's fall '10 show in a show-stopping crimson full-skirted dress, we knew we're were in for something red-hot and definitely red carpet. For his fifth collection, Gurung drew inspiration from Dickens' Miss Havisham, rewinding the clock on the moneyed spinster to present party ready looks Estella would surely covet. Less structured and more decadent than previous Prabal offerings, textures were everywhere, running the gamut from lacey appliques to leather to wool to lots of different furs (that magenta did-dyed coat being number one on our list). The result were pieces that were luxe, risky, seductive and absolutely perfect for any type of Valentine's Day rendezvous. The star-power wasn't exactly on low either—we spotted Anna Wintour, Stefano Tonchi, and Robbie Myers in the front row, while models like Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, and Liu Wen made for potent model candy. With the Oscars just around the corner, it's not a question of who will be wearing the gowns and cocktail frocks, but who won't.
