10 Top Fashion Week Looks & Lessons (So Far)

With just three days left of Fashion Week, we've already gotten our fill of runway show triumphs and a few flops, too. But boiling all the pomp and circumstance down to something tangible is what we love best. So, we spent yesterday afternoon scanning our top shows for the very best outfits we want to wear now. Think of these as the 10 new and improved lessons for winter dressing—and you don't have to wait till next year to put them to good use.

Try making your favorite flannel a little more chic with a chunky scarf and a snug-fitting utility belt.
2. Vena Cava: The Daytime Gown
Instead of predictable heels, flat oxfords and a close-fitting black turtleneck reveal the daytime brilliance of a glamorous gown.
3. VPL: Gold As Your Go-To Netural
In the most perfect, earthly shade of burnt gold, VPL's tailored leather jacket with putty-colored trousers could be our new cool-weather uniform.

4. Rachel Comey: Sheer With Velvet
The etherealness of Rachel Comey's gauzy blouse was just the right balance to the season's must-have textured velvet pants.
5. Karen Walker: Mix-And-Match Patterns
In complementary shades of purple, blue, and gray, these patterns form a clash that we like.
6. Jason Wu: Ladylike Low-Waisted Trousers
With the right proportions and skinny button-down, something as simple as low-waisted trousers are beyond ladylike.
7. Thakoon: Winter White Done Right
Using layers and varying degrees of wrapped and frothy fabric, Thakoon showed us how winter white can be practical and sophisticated all at the times.

High-top sneakers, slouchy sweats, and a shot of sparkle turn a cleverly layered look into a sport-chic slam-dunk.

With cool shades and a big furry collar, Scott Sternberg turned a possibly dowdy pleated knee-length skirt and tweed blazer into a head-to-toe glamour fest.
10. Suno: Graphic Winter Prints
Paired with a slick leather-trimmed jacket, a wild printed mini really wakes up the winter doldrums.
