We no longer subscribe to the classic 'boy meets girl, boy and girl get married and shoot off a couple offspring' expectations. Modern relationships are far more complex and wholly unique to individuals. It's perhaps why many women have a growing interest in ethical non-monogamy.

Non-monogamy is the umbrella term for various types of relationships — polyamory typically being when someone is romantically involved with more than one person and an open relationship when someone engages in sex with multiple people.

While some shudder and cry that they could never, plenty of people are navigating the world of polyamory. In order to shed more light on the experience of being in an open relationship, we've rounded up some stories from women on Reddit who share exactly what it's been like for them.
