For all its opulence and extravagance, Crazy Rich Asians is just a spin on a classic love scenario: Boy and girl meet; boy and girl fall in love; boy and girls' families complicate everything.
Rachel Chu, played by Constance Wu in the upcoming movie adaptation of Kevin Kwan's addictive book trilogy, thinks her boyfriend Nick (Henry Golding) is just about perfect. And that's without knowing that he hails from one of Singapore's wealthiest families. When they travel to Singapore for Nick's friend's wedding, Rachel realizes that she's dating "the Prince William of Asia." He's not just rich. He's crazy rich.

Kwan's novels are bursting with singular, unforgettable characters — like Rachel's Singaporean best friend, and Nick's cold, manipulative mother. Judging by the recently released trailer, these characters will be translated to the screen perfectly. Crazy Rich Asians is notable for its all-Asian cast — an unfortunate rarity in Hollywood. Here's a round-up of the cast of Crazy Rich Asians, and the actors and actresses you can bet you'll be seeing around. Hopefully we'll be seeing Henry Golding around a lot.

Constance Wu

Who She Plays: Rachel Chu, the Chinese-American professor who begins dating Nick without understanding the extent of his privilege. Rachel was raised by a single mother who became very successful through hard work.

Where You've Seen Her: Constance Wu is a superstar. She plays Jessica Huang, certainly one of TV's best mothers, on Fresh Off the Boat. Next time someone tells you to calm down, take a cue from Jessica. In 2017, Wu was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Interesting People.

Michelle Yeoh

Who She’s Playing: Eleanor Young, Nick’s mother. Eleanor is a stalwart for traditionalism and doesn’t approve of Rachel as a match for Nick. She makes her disapproval very evident.

Awkwafina

Who She Plays: Goh Peik Lin, Rachel's wealthy college bestie who also happens to live in Singapore. Rachel thought Peik Lin was the richest person she knew, until she met Nick.

Where You've Seen Her: You're about to see her everywhere. In addition to starring in Crazy Rich Asians, Awkwafina will appear in Oceans 8, out in June. Awkwafina is the "alter ego" name for Nora Lum, and was developed for her rap persona. She explained the distinction between her two selves in an interview for Entertainment Weekly: "Awkwafina is someone that I think never grew up, never felt the need to be filtered, that is extremely confident. Nora is brooding, neurotic, overthinking, completely full of anxiety, and Awkwafina kind of deafens all of that noise.”

Who He Plays: Goh Wye Mun, Peik Lin's wealthy father. He and the entire Goh family are fascinated by Rachel's situation.

Though he'd been acting for some time by that point, his career took off after playing the unhinged Mr. Chow in The Hangover in 2009. Jeong later helmed a two-season show, Dr. Ken, which was partly based on his past career as a doctor.
