Mindy Kaling appeared on The Howard Stern Show to promote the new season of The Mindy Project (which premieres tonight), and she made quite the romantic admission. When Stern asked Mindy if she has a "great love" who got away, she was extremely candid.
"He’s a good friend of mine, yeah. He’s my best friend. He broke up with me. It was years and years ago that that breakup happened. I was so sad, not angry, sad. That was the hottest I ever looked ‘cause I stopped eating. When I get depressed, I stop eating. I was so miserable and so beautiful." Kaling also confessed that the heartbreaker was "pretty damn good" in bed.

Well, it appears that Howard Stern has been doing his homework, because he immediately guessed that Mindy's mystery man could be none other than B.J. Novak, her current best friend, frequent professional collaborator, and erstwhile paramour.
"You're correct. Not that you're Sherlock Holmes, Howard," Kaling said. But, while they are still very close, and Kaling does love him, she's not "holding a candle for B.J." After all, they broke up for a reason.
"People are so different, and you can overlap in certain ways that are important, but not the ones that are most important," Mindy said.
So, is there any hope the two will rekindle their romance one day in the future? Don't worry, Howard Stern, love detective, is on it.
"If he called you tomorrow and said, 'I made a terrible mistake. We must get back together and get married,' you would do it," he pressed Kaling.
"I don't know," she said after a beat.
"That's not a no!" shouted Stern, and a million Ryan and Kelly fans across the nation.
