With Mila Kunis, Allison Williams, and now Mary-Kate Olsen pulling down rings, there is most definitely something in the air. That's right Us Weekly has just announced that the 27-year-old actress and Elizabeth and James fashion mogul has announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend, French financier Olivier Sarkozy.
It will be, as you know, Olsen's first marriage and Sarkozy's second. It's reported that the two met, through colleagues, in April of 2012 and coupled up shortly thereafter. Much has been made of the age difference between the two by the gossip rags. For the record, though, they've been living at her East Village townhouse for quite some time, and seem to have brushed off the criticisms like it ain't no thang. "Everyone has an opinion," Olsen told the The Wall Street Journal about her relationship with Sarkozy. "I find it's better to focus on what's in front of you and to keep putting one foot in front of the other." You've got to respect a woman for knowing what she wants and shutting out the haters, right?

Us has no details on any wedding plans at this time, but it's easy to guess that it'll be a stylish and very private affair. The Olsens have been understandably guarded about their personal lives since their late teens. The magazine did, however, seem to pry one quote out of what they call an "insider." "Mary-Kate's family thinks Olivier is the best thing to happen to her. They love him." Aww, that's nice.
The announcement seems to bring full circle the development of at least one of the twins we've been watching since they first toddled onto Full House at age 1. Despite the Truman Show-like existence the sisters Olsen have led, they seem to have settled into highly successful, inspiring lives. Getting engaged seems like a bit of well-deserved icing on the cake for a young who's accomplished so much in so few years. Congrats to all, and let the planning commence! (Us Weekly)
