We already know Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos (the wonder-duo behind Shipley & Halmos) like to keep things laid-back, and there's no better way to decompress than by taking a trip outside the city. Cue mountain envy: We asked Jeff and Sam to share their photo diary (as well as some footage of them skiing!) from their latest bro-trip to Steamboat, Colorado. Sometimes all you need is boarding, bowling, Top Gun, and chili-cheese hotdogs.
Above left: A safe arrival in Hayden, CO, which is the airport about 30 minutes from Steamboat. It's an annual trip that we've been doing since college.

Above right: Jeff doing his best to look more like a fighter pilot than a snowboarder.
Above left: Speaking of Maverick, you absolutely need to have an assortment of classic VHS tapes to watch after a long day on the mountain. Top Gun was the crowd favorite this year. Runner-up was Major League. Clear and Present Danger and Robin Hood (the one with the Bryan Adams song) received Honorable Mentions.
Above right: After we got about 10 inches of "freshies," we rode a lift to the top, decided to hike out of bounds, and found this amazing igloo cave. The locals build these things around the mountain so they can take smoke breaks, and we had to crawl through a little hole in the snow to get in.
Above: The cave fit about 8 people, had built-in ice seats, and was decorated with those Tibetan flags (very popular in Colorado). Heady.
Above left: Sam enjoying a light lunch on the mountain: a fully loaded chili cheese dog (jalapenos included). Just fuel for our kiddie jib park shred-a-thon later on.
Above right: Snacks are a necessity for any après ski afternoon, and Doritos makes a special flavor we had never seen before. It's called "Late Night All Nighter Cheeseburger." Mind blowing.
Above: The Strawberry Hot Springs are so beautiful. It felt like something you'd visit in Japan, not in the middle of Colorado. Very relaxing.
Above: In terms of night activities, there's a great bowling alley on the edge of town called Snow Bowl. It was built in the early '70s and hasn't changed a bit (décor, music, and the guy working behind the counter).
Above left: Homemade margaritas. Yum.
Above right: Right before heading to the airport, we looked outside and saw a baby elk chillin' near the deck. Sorry pal, those Doritos were polished off within a couple hours of opening them.
