Get Effortless Waves Without The Hassle​

Real talk: Wavy hair is not a new, novel trend. Season after season, from the runways to the streets, this look has been worn and styled in every which way — glam, beachy, mermaid, messy, retro — you name it. And, with all the twisted 'dos we saw throughout the latest red-carpet season, it's clearly not going away anytime soon. So, obviously, when we spotted this gorgeous head of hair on the streets of New York, we had to get to the root of it. Yep, you already know where this is going. To get a similar look, hairstylist Anna Webber suggests first spritzing all over with a light hairspray, like Pantene Flexible Hold Hairspray, for texture and then using a heat protectant, like Pantene Heat Protection Spray, to keep your strands from getting fried. Then, gather the hair that hangs in front of your ears on either side and split it into two sections. Use a 1 1/2-inch curling iron to curl those sections away from your face. To get slight bends like you see here instead of sausage curls or ringlets, Webber says to start the curl a few inches away from the root and to release the hair after just a few seconds. Finish up the rest of your hair alternating the direction of how you wrap it, so you get a natural pattern instead of beauty-pageant-style waves. Break up the curls with your fingers, and then spritz the ends with a salt or texturizing spray for extra texture. And, if you have a shorter crop, try a 1-inch curling iron instead of the larger barrel. Now, who's ready to try these waves on for size?
