Put The Needle To The Record With Standard’s Playlist Party

We’ve seen the revival of many a retro-trend — the entire thrift store lifestyle, Adele, mom jeans — but it’s the return of vinyl that’s really turning heads in the art, music, and pop culture realms. So what better way to celebrate the original medium of dance music then with a multi-DJ pool party?

The Record: Contemporary Art and Vinyl at Miami Art Museum, or MAM, is the first ever museum exhibit on the vinyl record, and they’re celebrating with a night of three DJs spinning three eras of Miami music. You’ll get Magic City-style grooves from Uncle Luke, plus the drop of the booty bass up to the reigning leader of the Miami sound, The Spam Allstars. DJs will each take their turn playing the eras, with Mr. Brown tackling old-school '50s and '60s james, Induce taking on the culture clash of the '70s and '80s, and Manuvers spinning the '90s to now. The sets will all be between 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. around the Lido Lounge.

Order a beer, a green juice, or sangria and hang around with a killer view of Venetian Causeway while listening to the best (and hopefully a bit of the worst, ahem, Trina) throwbacks in Miami music. And don’t forget to checkout the exhibit at MAM — your vinyl-themed playlists are even encouraged!
