Calling It! These SCAD Grads Are The Next Big Names In Fashion

Prior to this past weekend, we didn't really know how a jacquard loom worked (or even what it looked like), how leather gets thin enough to make a wallet, or that a 3-D mold printer could be used to make sterling-silver jewelry. But, thanks to a lovely weekend down south at the Savannah College of Art and Design, not only have we gotten schooled (literally), but we also got to see the next crop of on-the-rise designers that make up this year's graduating class. And, trust us — they're good.
Yes, we joined Francisco Costa in Georgia to receive the Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award (and catch an after-hours Amanda Lepore performance!) We also got to see his Calvin Klein threads in the SCAD museum, and, of course, to gawk at the final runway presentations of the top 35 designers from the class of 2013.
From ball gowns that would look at home on any red carpet, to quirky banjo-printed tops, to a daringly oversized jacket stuffed with down comforters, the creations proved we've got a lot to look forward to when it comes to fashion.
