The Secret To Living Forever Might Be To Avoid Men

Earlier this month, Scotland's oldest woman, Jessie Gallan, celebrated her 109th birthday. It's an impressive feat, as the average life expectancy for women in Scotland is only about 80 years. In a chat with the Daily Mail, she said the secret to her longevity has been to stay away from men.
"They're just more trouble than they're worth," she explained. Having never gotten married herself, she's living proof that the single life is an awesome one. Gallan left home at 13 to begin a job milking cows, then went on to become a farm kitchen helper before working at a hotel that was visited by the Queen herself.
Of course, Gallan noted that her long life should not be solely credited to the absence of men. "I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, [and ate] a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning," she said. She celebrated her birthday with a slice of cake at the Crosby House care home in Aberdeen, Scotland.
