An Ombré Lip You’ll Actually Wear

Let's be clear — we're always down to try a new beauty trend. When it comes to making one part of our daily routine, however, our lazy-girl selves prefer the simple route. The 12-step Korean skin-care regimen? We're for it, but we also value our shut-eye. Any of the eight contouring trends? Nope, not today. The updates we are willing to throw in the mix consist of one, maybe two steps. Case in point: ombré lips. Though the fade-out at first appears difficult to DIY, we've got an easy trick that'll make you want to road test the look before you even finish reading this post. The secret is all in the technique. First, apply a brightly pigmented lip pencil to the very center of your upper and lower lips. (Warning: You'll be sporting a Queen of Hearts vibe at first.) Then blend the shade out toward the edges of your mouth using your fingertips. For an even softer, more diffused effect, you can also try a smudger tool like the one found in Maybelline's Lip Studio Color Blur. The result — minimal effort, major impact. Head over to Maybelline for more cool looks to inspire your beauty routine — whether you're feeling lazy or not.
