Meet The Creative Couple With D.C.’s Coolest Live/Work Space

We've been fans of the doubly creative duo of Virginia Arrisueño and Kelly Towles since we first donned one of her ultra-cozy knit scarves and spied one of his signature creepy-cool paintings. Arrisueño, a fiber artist by training, launched her knitwear company, De*Nada Designs, in 2005, and has since been designing lush braided scarves, oh-so-dramatic cowl collars and super-soft arm warmers. Towles has been a fixture on the city's underground art scene for years, creating incredible large-scale works that manage to incorporate both wild graffiti and delicate, anime-inspired character studies.
We caught up with the couple in their new home, a wickedly cool warehouse loft inside one of Washington's most well-known artist enclaves. Also present? Their two adorable rescued dogs and their soon-to-be-born son (we even got to feel him kick!) Inside their space, we fell in love with the mixture of first-rate salvaged furnishings, that-can't-be-IKEA basics, his tremendous array of paints, her inspiring patterns, and a whole lot of creative energy. Read on to get your own dose of serious space envy.
