Americans Got Drama, World Ranking Of Most Emotional Countries Confirmed

You mad, bro? Well, according to a recent global survey on emotional experience conducted by Gallup, quite possibly you are. As the Washington Post reports, over the course of four years, researchers asked subjects questions such as, “Did you smile or laugh a lot yesterday?” on a daily basis, recording their highs, lows, and the spaces in between to gauge the general emotionality of various regions in order to create the lovely map you see above. While some findings were as expected — the Russians are stoic, South America is generally quite lively — others are surprising. For instance, residents of Singapore are deeply placid (to an almost dysfunctional level, some argue), the reputedly passionate Italians are actually quite mild, and the famous sangfroid of the French ain't really all that froid. A particular point of joy/fury is Gallup's assessment of the ol' U.S. of A. Apparently, us Yanks are walking volcanos of love and hate, our emotionality ranking right up there with Filipinos (Filipinos, who knew?). We guess, given our recent election, our increasingly huggy culture, and all those brawls in McDonalds, it shouldn't come as a surprise. Still, we don't know how we feel about this. SO MANY EMOTIONS!
