“Our inspirations have always come from places outside of fashion and San Francisco,” say local designers Jill Giordano and Brian Scheyer of Gr.Dano. “However, this season's collection was inspired by both, namely the opening of 'Balenciaga and Spain' at de Young." The husband-and-wife duo, who also won this year's Discarded to Divine eco-fashion competition, looked to the "ultra-modern" shapes of Balenciaga as the starting point to their fall 2011 collection, which features vague references to matador and flamenco style and a mix of masculine and feminine silhouettes.
