Is This The New Way To Do Menswear On The Red Carpet?

We often praise red carpet looks that break the mold. In the past, that’s included a demure Peter Pan collar and quite a few menswear-inspired silhouettes. Yet, the latest ensemble from Jessica Chastian merges both and has us asking ourselves, Does it work?

Arriving at the Interstellar Live event in London, the actress wore an LBD with a mini hem and a white, stand-out neckline. Alone, it might not have been an outfit that drew attention, but the accessory pièce de résistance was Chastain's neck scarf, which was fashioned as a tie. We're impressed with the tying skills, but we kind of wish Jessica had gone a little further with her wink at menswear. She could have joined the ranks of Ellen Page and Angelina Jolie in a full suit-and-tie combination, or she could have simply chosen a tuxedo collar to complement the sharper tie shape. Still, we’re certainly not knocking the risk. For all those averse to mastering the double windsor — on a dress or otherwise — consider this the beginner’s shortcut.
