Runway & Scene: Harlan Bel

Harlan Bel's spring/summer 09 collection was full of silks with plays on pockets and folds, all in blacks, beiges, and whites with smart swipes of color. We particularly liked the risky purple crop top with the ultra low-rise black shorts,
but weren't so keen on the open, white vest that screamed "boob tape." The styling was fun with high ponytails that staggered back and forth, and nerd glasses that were less bold and black, and more on the path toward librarian, with a hint of cat-eye. Before the Harlan Bel show started, we talked to Teen Vogue fashion assistant Blake English, who tells me her favorite show so far has been Rosa Cha.Does this mean teenagers will be walking around the city in bikinis come spring? We're not sure, but English said she loved the '70s vibe of the show, that there were pieces for every body type, and Bel offered fun vibe with catchy Portuguese music that had us tapping our toes all the way out the door.
