Nix Hair Frizziness For Good

After the winter we've had, we're ready to embrace the rising temps of summer with open arms. But, there is one reason we're feeling a little wary about the new season: frizz. No matter how many serums or deep conditioners we drop money on, the fuzz still seems to sprout from our hair whenever the humidity kicks in. There's got to be someone or something to blame for it, right? Well, allow us to introduce you to the part of the hair you probably don't know but is actually causing you grief: the hair cuticle.
This cuticle is the outer layer of each strand of your hair. And, while it may seem like a small, insignificant part of your overall hair health, it actually has a lot to do with how your locks behave. To get to the nitty gritty of the hair cuticle, we tapped expert trichologist Elizabeth Cunnane Phillips of the Philip Kingsley Institute to school us on all things cuticle. Turns out, we haven't been all that friendly to our hair, but there's an easy way to fix that.
