Acne creative director, Jonny Johansson, says he was inspired by a still-life picture for the brand's 2012 resort collection, but there was nothing square or lifeless about the designs, save for the thick-rimmed specs on some of the models. In their first New York presentation, the Swedish brand known for their colorful denim proved they are more than just jeans, mixing in couture inspirations of pastel leather and colorful print taffeta, resulting in a harmonious contrast of formal and casual. The looks are fit for any downtown New Yorker who knows sophisticated style doesn't have to lack fun. Holding true to this style belief, the models' looks are topped with a messy, teased up 'do that says, "I've been out all night and can still hold it down during the day."
