Brad Goreski Talks Sexy Preps And His (Almost) Hip-Hop Career

Last night we hung out with Brad Goreski at Macy's Herald Square as he celebrated the launch of Tommy Hilfiger's new his and her fragrances, Eau de Prep TommyGirl and Eau de Prep Tommy. Hilfiger developed Eau de Prep as the last step to completing your high-brow look, and, being the impeccably put together prepster that he is, Brad was the obvious choice to host. True to form, he was sporting tartan plaid pants, a polka-dot bow tie, blazer, and pocket square. Before he got to schmoozing and styling the popped-collar crowd, we chatted with the fragrance ambassador about the new scents, how he almost went hip-hop, and whether he keeps that bow-tie on at (ahem) all times.

Were you a fan of the Tommy Hilfiger brand when it first launched?
I was obsessed with Tommy! I could only get Tommy at Winner's in Canada, so I would drag my mom and pull out all the Tommy I could find.

Did you wear the original Tommy fragrance?

I did. I wore all things Tommy Hilfiger. Tommy almost made me hip-hop.
What do you love about Eau de Prep? Everyone's going to smell so much better! But really, I just love the way it smells. The men's scent has ruby red grapefruit with a little bit of sage and amber — it's fruity and spicy at the same time. The women's scent has a pear, rose, and patchouli, so again, you get that mixture of sweet and spicy. It really defines the preppy style, which is refined and delicious, but also sexy. As you can tell by staring at me!

What is so attractive about the prep lifestyle? I like the idea of looking my best at all times. Whether it's a wearing a bow tie, a blazer, and plaid pants or a polo, jeans, and lace ups. I think it's important, no matter the time of day, to put that extra effort in and look your best because you never know who you're going to run into.
Who would you say is the sexiest prep in history? Jake Ryan from 16 Candles. He's like the end all, be all.
We know you love a bow tie, but do you keep your bow tie on in the bedroom? Well, I've been in a relationship for 10 years, so you do the math!
Tommy Hilfiger Eau de Prep TommyGirl and Tommy, $50-$70, available exclusively at Macy's.
