Bobbi Brown Shares Her Goals For Yahoo Beauty

When we first heard back in April that Bobbi Brown had signed on as the new editor-in-chief of Yahoo Beauty, we couldn't help but be excited to see what she'd bring to the role. And, now that the site's officially launched, we finally get to check out what Brown's serving up — and it's good. Looking for tips from Elvis Presley' hairstylist? Check. Seeking a unisex scent? Done. Articles written by the EIC herself? It's all there.
"My plan is to be as organic as I can be, because that's where the magic happens," Brown tells us. Aside from the typical beauty stories, she wants to curate content that reaches beyond cosmetics. "Beauty is really more than what you put on your face — it's about what you put in your body, how you live your life, and so on," she says. "I want to be able to empower women with self-acceptance, so we'll offer both practical tips and inspirational stories."
And, Brown's decades-long career in the beauty and fashion industries has prepared her to do just that. "My profession — coupled with the fact that I'm a working mom — has given me an amazing insight that nothing is about how fabulous you are," she says. "I've also been lucky enough to work with women when they're bare-faced, without their makeup, so I've heard a lot about women's insecurities." Armed with this knowledge, Brown hopes to create a space where women can find realness — real tips, real women, and really inspirational stories.
"I'm nervous about doing a good job," Brown confesses. "But, I'm excited because I'm able to bring this incredible team together. They just have such vast talents." And, if you thought her stories on the site today were a onetime thing, think again. "I want this to be a platform for beauty stories and personal stories, so I'm actually writing a piece on beauty advice from my 83-year-old Aunt Alice," Brown says. Makeup guru, EIC, and a writer? Brown just might do it all.
