Summer Hair Prep: How To Get Your Strands Ready For An Epic Summer

Photographed by Lauren Perlstein.
This time of year, lots of us are busy exfoliating and moisturizing our bodies in preparation for all the air time they'll be getting come summer. But, there's another important area that needs some TLC: your hair.

Exposure to the elements (read: sun, salt, chlorine) can do some serious damage to your strands, leaving them brittle, dry, and prone to breakage. Chlorine can even give your locks a greenish tint — which is fine and all, if you're Kylie Jenner and going for that kind of thing.

To help prepare your mane for a summer of sun and fun, we spoke to pro hairstylists Kylee Rae Heath, Kim Kimble, and Tracey Cunningham to get the inside scoop on some of their strand-saving pointers. Click through for tips on how to prep your hair for summer, as well as maintain and de-stress it. And, feel free to leave a few of your own hair-care secrets in the comments.
