Here's an interesting tidbit for you. Before all our mind boggling technology, old-school small screen stars like Betty Grable were being done up with green lipstick and matching blush. According to a Popular Science article from 1938, television cameras of yesteryear didn't recognize the red undertones of human skin tones, leaving the ladies looking drab and unnatural. They discovered that when green makeup was used, the lips and cheeks appeared more realistic and in harmony with the rest of the body. Cool, right? (Modern Mechanix)
