The Bachelorette seems like just the sort of thing Amy Schumer would rip to shreds on her eponymous Comedy Central show. And, yet, there she was, joining a group date on last night's episode. Did Chris Harrison lose a bet?
Schumer gave the reality show some much-need comic relief in her guest role as group date chaperone/human equivalent of the deadpan-stare emoji. She shut it down, she dished it out, she made us wonder why she wasn't around when that awful Ryan M. was still lurking around the house.
Since Ryan has been kicked off the show, Schumer settled for making mincemeat out of his jerky successor, JJ. During her comedy lesson with the former investment banker, Schumer initially praised him for his "firing on all cylinders" mystique. Then he started talking.
"JJ's a sweetheart," Schumer later said in her confessional. "He's just missing charisma, humility, and a sense of humor."
The word "turd" may have also been employed. That's bad news for JJ, but good news for fans of the show, who are taking to Twitter to lobby for Schumer to become a regular on the show. Better yet, let's make her The Bachelorette. What could possibly go wrong?
