Gay couple finally receives marriage license in Kentucky’s Rowan County, Kim Davis’ punishment should be to attend their big beautiful gay wedding

After four other same-sex couples were turned away, William Smith Jr. and James Yates were the first gay couple to receive a marriage license in Rowan County. Deputy clerk Brian Mason smiled as he issued the license, congratulating the couple of nearly a decade. U.S. unemployment rate falls to 5.1%, a seven-year low; “fed up with updates from LinkedIn” rate remains at an all-time high

Reaching a peak of 10 percent during the Great Recession, the U.S. jobless rate fell to 5.1 percent this month which is within the range of what the Fed considers “full employment.” While the job market is moving in a positive direction, the same report released by the Labor Department found that wage growth and labor force participation — the percentage of Americans over the age of 16 who are employed or actively searching for a job — aren’t showing signs of recovery. 11-year-old St. Louis boy fatally shoots a teen in an alleged home invasion; lets just all agree not to read the news during the three-day weekend

St. Louis police report that an 11-year-old boy shot and killed a 16-year-old who made multiple attempts to break into the boy’s home. Left home by his parents with his 4-year-old sister, the boy shot the 16-year-old in the head, scaring away a second suspect who allegedly participated in the home invasion and is now in police custody. Neighbors dispute the police’s account with a witness claiming that the teen was shot at point-blank range after arguing with the 11-year-old on the front porch. (CNN)

Japan created a street map from a cat’s-eye view, every dream you’ve ever had is coming true

Forget Google Street View — Hiroshima’s tourism board launched a website that allows users to explore areas surrounding Onomichi city from a cat’s point of view. Using 360-degree cameras similar to those used by Google, the map imagines what cats see while traveling through the city’s shopping arcade. A survey from Pew Research of over 3,000 U.S. adults shows that 60 percent of millennials would really love it if you stopped referring to them as millennials. Pew also found that millennials, commonly defined as people currently between the ages of 18 and 34, are less likely than other generations to correctly self-identify: only 40 percent of millennials saw themselves as millennials; eight percent referred to themselves as Baby Boomers. A New York teacher has been arrested for crashing a drone at the US Open, no one has ever worked harder for pictures of Rafael Nadals perfect tush

A 26-year-old New York City teacher has been arrested for piloting a drone into empty stands during a second-round U.S. Open match. Daniel Verley has been charged with reckless endangerment and operating a drone outside an authorized area. Everyone — including players Flavia Pennetta of Italy and Monica Niculescu of Romania, who were allowed to complete the match after a brief investigation — left the crash unharmed, except the drone, which shattered on impact.
