Opposites Really Do Attract In Karen Walker’s Resort Collection

Bringing her carefree aesthetic stateside, New Zealand designer Karen Walker presents a whimsical mix for resort '13. With each look a mix of attracting opposites, the crush-worthy designs are tailored but loose, feminine with a hint of menswear, and demure yet utterly sophisticated. The polka dots, baby-doll frocks, and oversized ruffles lend a childish lightheartedness to the collection. But the effortless feel is also thanks to the simple color palate of navy, creams, and pinks, as well as nautically-influenced stripes.
The Auckland designer, (whose eyewear pop-up shop, The Candy Bar, just opened at the Steven Allen Annex in NYC), completes the collection with seaside-ready cropped trousers and simple, striped blouses that are both truly incredible. Now, if only Ms. Walker would open a permanent stand-alone store in the U.S! After all, with opposites coming together so well in these looks, what could be a better match than North America and the Southern Kiwi ?
