Moto Mamas Inspire Alexander Wang Spring ’12

alex-wang
Not that we're complaining, for it was beyond refreshing to see a show where the past was a driving influence—and at Alexander Wang's future-driven spring '12 collection, the closest thing to retro was a pointy pair of '90s stilettos. The Wangster was inspired by a slew of gnarly sports: Motocross, NASCAR, and surf references from the uniforms of the athletes to the layout of stadium seating maps. And for those of you who say Sir Alex is beginning to become overrated, we say "boo"—those peek-a-boo mesh pockets (Those hands!), the pointy stiletto/sportif pairings (The juxtaposition!), those laser-cut leather dresses (The sex appeal!) are what keeps us continuously anticipating this designer's offerings season after season.
